Ascot hires strategy head from AIG to form new MGA
Ascot, Lloyd’s of London syndicate and a specialty insurance underwriter, has appointed Greg Wolyniec as head of global strategy.
Wolyniec has over 12 years of strategy and M&A experience and was previously senior managing director at AIG, leading strategic and innovation efforts for AIG’s global commercial business.
In his new role, Wolyniec will lead strategic and investment initiatives and join the executive committee of Ascot Group (AGL), which was formed by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), after it acquired Ascot Underwriting's operations in 2016.
Wolyniec will assist with the formation of a standalone MGA platform under AGL. This platform will trade as a separate entity to the other AGL businesses, Ascot Underwriting (Syndicate 1414 at Lloyd’s) and Ascot Underwriting Bermuda.
"We are delighted to have Greg join Ascot in this critical role," said Andrew Brooks, chief executive officer of Ascot. "As Head of Global Strategy he will be invaluable as Ascot expands organically and through acquisitions."
Wolyniec commented: "I am pleased to join this high quality team at Ascot and look forward to an exciting future starting with the successful establishment of the new MGA platform."
