ArgoGlobal Assicurazioni taps Navigators' Serra to replace Borrelli as CUO
ArgoGlobal Assicurazioni, a European subsidiary of Argo Group International Holdings, has appointed Marco Serra as the new chief underwriting officer (CUO), based in Rome, Italy.
Serra joins ArgoGlobal from Navigators, where he was based in Milan as underwriting manager for professional and management liability. He began his career in Italy with Generali and B&A, before moving to London to work with Heath Lambert, Willis and Special Risks. Returning to Milan in 2006, he worked as a senior account executive at Gruppo GPA, before moving to AIG in London and Milan, ANV in Barcelona and eventually Navigators.
Serra replaces former ArgoGlobal Assicurazioni CUO Mario Borrelli, who will continue to advise the company in his new role as technical and commercial coordinator and special projects director.
Borrelli will oversee the existing product offering and producer relationships; ensure technical support to the team to achieve increased competitiveness and profitability; and lead the European surety network in Italy.
Both Serra and Borrelli will report to ArgoGlobal Assicurazioni CEO Giovanni Tucci.
“Marco is a consummate insurance professional who will strengthen our growing team and presence here in Italy,” said Tucci. “As an agile and insurtech-friendly insurer with an innovative culture and an unswerving focus on the needs of insureds, we see huge potential for growth in this market. Marco’s experience both in Italy and at Lloyd’s will be key to our strategic plans for expansion.”
Tucci added: “I would like to thank Mario for his continued and vital contribution to ArgoGlobal Assicurazioni. His expertise has been invaluable and he will continue to serve the company on key projects. I look forward to continuing to work with him.”
