Arch nabs terrorism insurance market veteran from Chaucer in growth move

Arch Insurance International, part of Bermuda-based re/insurer  Arch Capital Group, has tapped “one of the most respected figures” in the terrorism insurance market from Lloyd’s insurer Chaucer to help scale its portfolio and deliver on its growth ambitions for the division.

Andrew Bauckham (pictured) has joined  Arch as head of terrorism, political violence & war. He will be responsible for managing underwriting activities across a broad portfolio spanning NCBR terrorism, political violence, SRCC & malicious damage, terrorism liability, terrorism & sabotage and war & civil war.

Bauckham joins from Chaucer where he most recently was head of political violence and crisis management, having joined the company in 1998. He has also served as the chair of the Lloyd’s Market Association’s terrorism and political violence panel.

He will report to Lino Leoni, chief underwriting officer for short tail lines at  Arch Insurance International, who said: “Andrew is one of the most respected figures in the terrorism insurance market and is an outstanding addition to our team at  Arch. His extensive market expertise and breadth of relationships will see him play a central role in further enhancing our customer service-focused approach and delivering on our strong growth ambitions for the division.”
