Arch Insurance appoints new head of US property from AIG
Arch Insurance, part of Bermuda-based re/insurer Arch Capital Group, has hired AIG's Valerie Turpin as executive vice president (EVP) and head of US property.
Turpin joins Arch from American International Group (AIG), where she most recently served as senior vice president, Midwest property and special risks and managed a substantial book of retail and wholesale business.
Turpin succeeds Michael Kmetz, who has taken a different role within the firm.
In this position, Turpin will have oversight of both the excess and surplus property and US retail property divisions. She reports to Michael Price, chief underwriting officer of Arch Insurance Group.
“Valerie is a recognized leader in the industry and has a proven track record of building out a property team and leading it into new segments,” Price said. “We’re impressed with her strategic thinking and leadership style and know she will bring a new perspective to both her team and the leadership group at Arch Insurance.”
Mark Lange, executive vice president, strategy and distribution, added: “Valerie’s experience and expertise will help ensure we’re providing valuable solutions for our partners and embracing new growth strategies in all of our distribution channels.”
