Aon Benfield appoints new Bermuda CEO, chairman in expansion move
Aon Benfield, the global reinsurance intermediary and capital advisor of Aon, has unveiled a new management structure for its Bermuda team that includes new hires and expanded roles.
As a key part of the initiative, Matthias Meyenhofer will join the firm on Sept. 1 as CEO of Aon Benfield Bermuda.
Meyenhofer joins Aon from Guy Carpenter where he was head of EMEA global clients, having previously held the position of CEO at ACE Tempest Re Europe, as well as other senior positions within the industry.
Furthermore, Tony Fox, currently chairman of Aon Benfield Global ReSpecialty Bermuda, will become chairman of Aon Benfield Bermuda. At the same time, Jonathan Davies, a member of the Aon Benfield Global ReSpecialty executive in London, will relocate to the island as of April 1 to become head of Aon Benfield Global ReSpecialty Bermuda.
The moves aim to optimize the increasing opportunities for clients and markets to deploy capital and expertise on the island, Aon Benfield said.
Nick Frankland, UK CEO of Aon Benfield, who also oversees the firm’s Bermuda operations, commented: “Augmenting our resources in this way reflects Aon Benfield’s commitment to Bermuda, and is in recognition of the widening experience, skillsets and capital now available on the island, and of our desire to better access Bermuda capabilities in support of our global model.”
Fox added: “The addition of these two experienced team members signals the beginning of the expansion of our Bermuda platform. Matthias and Jonathan will play key roles in helping to drive our strategic growth objectives.”
Bob Bisset, chief executive officer of Aon Benfield Global ReSpecialty, said: “Aon Benfield has been a long-standing partner of the Bermuda market, recognizing the value it brings to our clients in terms of its diversified and highly rated capital and skills.”
