AmTrust poaches head of specialty claims from Travelers

AmTrust International, the UK and International arm of New York-based AmTrust Financial Services, has appointed Julian Millar as head of specialty claims and chief claims officer for AmTrust Europe.

Millar has over 25 years of claims management experience and joins AmTrust from Travelers where he was head of specialty claims.

Previously, he was managing director at Claimspro International, a firm of loss adjusters, and before that, head of property claims at QBE European Operations. Prior to that, Millar was head of specialist claims operations at Royal Bank of Scotland Insurance Group. He began his career in claims with Eagle Star before moving to MMA Insurance, and then held senior claims management roles with Chubb Insurance Co of Europe and Hiscox Insurance Group.

Based in London, Millar will report to Angel Mas, specialty business unit managing director and CEO, AmTrust Europe, as a member of the international specialty executive team.

Mas said: “Claims is at the heart of what we do, and our partners and customers have grown to expect an expert, agile and proactive claims experience from AmTrust. Julian’s appointment forms a crucial part of our strategic development. Julian will be responsible for building on our Claims Centre of Excellence, with focus on strong technical expertise and driving a customer centric culture to maximise customer satisfaction. His background and expertise will prove invaluable to AmTrust as we continue to enhance our claims capabilities and expand our offerings.”
