Allianz UK boosts commercial insurance with new hire

Allianz Insurance, a part of the Allianz SE Group, has appointed Ross McCallum as strategic account manager in the UK, effective January 2017.

He joins the strategic distribution management team of commercial and personal broker markets after working for the South East region as distribution manager. Prior to this, McCallum worked for Allianz Australia and has undertaken roles in claims, underwriting and distribution.

In his new position, McCallum will be responsible for managing and setting the direction for the relationship with a number of Allianz’s main broker accounts.

“Ross brings a wealth of experience and I am delighted to welcome him to the team,” said Nick Hobbs, director of broker markets, commercial and personal.

“I am pleased that we have been able to fill such an important role internally, reflecting the high calibre of talent we have in our business. I have every confidence that Ross will continue to strengthen our relationships with our broker partners and customers.”

McCallum initially joined Allianz UK in 2004, but left the company a year later to work in Sydney, Australia, where he carried out a number of management roles, including that of account manager and later distribution manager at Allianz Australia. He also briefly worked for Zurich Australia in 2014 as state distribution manager for Victoria and Tasmania.
