AIG taps Allianz exec as international casualty CUO Mailloux exits

American International Group (AIG) has appointed a new chief underwriting officer (CUO) of its international casualty business, succeeding Patrick Mailloux, who has retired from the company.

Ciara Brady (pictured) joins AIG from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty in Zurich, where she served as global head of liability since 2019, driving the strategic direction of the company’s global casualty business.

Prior to Allianz, she worked for Swiss Re in Zurich and Toronto for 15 years, serving in several leadership positions, including as head of casualty underwriting operations. Brady started her career as an underwriter at Chubb.

In her new role, Brady will lead the overall strategic direction and objectives for international casualty underwriting, collaborating with claims, actuarial and other functions to enhance AIG’s underwriting strategy.

Brady will be based in Zurich, and report to Lex Baugh, global chief underwriting officer, casualty and financial lines, and Jon Hancock, CEO of international general insurance.

In a joint statement, Baugh and Hancock said: “Ciara is an exceptional leader and brings tremendous casualty underwriting experience to the team. We look forward to her expertise as we deliver value and an enhanced customer experience around the world.”
