AIG hires senior Argo and Chubb leaders for global specialty business
American International Group (AIG) has appointed two senior leaders in its global specialty business to drive underwriting strategy for aerospace and energy & construction practices.
Steve Eccles will join AIG as global head of aerospace, general insurance, and James Langdon as UK head of energy & construction, general insurance.
Eccles will report to Peter Bilsby, global head of specialty, and be based in London. As a key member of the specialty leadership team, he will be responsible for setting and driving business strategy for global Aerospace and ensuring underwriting excellence across the product line.
Eccles has over 30 years of industry experience and has a broad knowledge of the aviation insurance market. He worked first as an aviation broker before becoming an aviation underwriter at Lloyd’s of London. He joins AIG from Argo where he was chief underwriting officer international and active underwriter for ArgoGlobal Syndicate 1200 at Lloyd’s. Prior to joining Argo, he was the active underwriter for Travelers Syndicate 5000. He will start his new role in April 2020.
Langdon will report to Gordon Browne, global gead of energy & construction, and be based in London. As head of the UK business, he will be responsible for developing and executing the UK strategy in line with the global energy strategy, as well as driving underwriting excellence.
Langdon joins AIG from Chubb, where he spent over 16 years, most recently as global head of upstream energy. He will start his new role in December this year.
