Active Re attracts top leaders for global treaty, credit & surety expansion
Barbados-domiciled reinsurer Active Re has tapped several senior treaty, credit and surety hires with pedigree at SiriusPoint, RSA, Arch Re, Accelerant and Munich Re to oversee its global growth strategy and underwriting of various lines of business.
Joining its credit & surety team are Erik Feigelson Johansson and Nathalie Gordon, who will collectively help boost the existing underwriting capabilities with Javier Ernesto Jácome de la Guardia – underwriter credit & surety – who joined Active Re in October 2022.
Feigelson Johansson is the new head of global credit & surety underwriting, supported by Gordon as senior underwriter – credit & surety. The company has also expanded its treaty team with the hiring of Marco Nicolini as head of global treaty business underwriting.
Feigelson Johansson has more than 35 years’ experience in the insurance and reinsurance markets, specialising in credit insurance & surety bonds. He previously worked at RSA Insurance in Latin America surety regional leadership role. In his new role, Feigelson will be responsible for strengthening Active Re's underwriting strategy and performance in trade credit insurance & surety bonds, leading the company's strategy and underwriting of various product lines of business, reporting directly to the chief executive officer Ramon Martinez Carrera.
Gordon joins from Accelerant, where she served as senior business underwriter MGA portfolio and prior to that as head of surety MGA. Previously, Gordon held surety and treaty underwriting roles at AFL Insurance Brokers and Munich Re. Her new role will see her oversee the management and strategy of Active Re’s credit and surety lines of business.
Javier joined Active Re with 20 years of experience in the credit & surety field, having developed an extensive skill set in product and sales channel development across the insurance and reinsurance LatAm markets.
Nicolini was most recently head of the Latin America unit at global specialty re/insurer SitiusPoint. He joins Active Re with more than 20 years in the reinsurance market to further enhance and strengthen its global team, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as develop and execute the strategic and marketing objectives.
Nicolini will lead Active Re’s treaty portfolio development in addition to overseeing the management and strategy of various product lines of business, reporting directly to the CEO Martinez Carrera.
