Acrisure Re taps Arch's Canagaretna for London corporate advisory unit

Reinsurance and advisory broking firm Acrisure Re has appointed Ben Canagaretna as managing director of the London corporate advisory and solutions business.

Canagaretna has more than 19 years’ industry and actuarial experience and was previously managing director at Arch Insurance Group where he was responsible for leading the managing agency.

Before that he worked at Barbican Group for 10 years, and was director of Barbican Managing Agency from 2011 to 2016. He was a divisional actuary for Liberty Syndicate’s casualty team from 2007 to 2009 and has held roles at Whittington Capital Management and PwC.

In his new role based in London, Canagaretna will report to Acrisure Re chief executive Jason Howard. He has been charged with building on Acrisure Re’s existing capabilities to provide corporate advisory services to carriers and reinsurers and focuses on advising on overall strategy, capital management, legacy transactions, mergers and acquisitions and access to alternative capital.

Howard said Canagaretna’s “specialist expertise as an actuary and many years working for a carrier will give us the perspective we need to develop new and different approaches to risk mitigation.”

Canagaretna said Acrisure Re has “built a tremendous legacy, over a number years, based on a down to earth style and relentless focus on meaningful relationships, integrity and service.”
