Howden hands reins of London broking to 21-year veteran
Global insurance broker Howden has elevated a 21-year company veteran to boost its broking ambitions in the London market.
The appointee will have overall responsibility for the existing London broking team, which places property, casualty and motor business into the insurance market.
Paul Hipson (pictured) has been appointed to the newly created role of head of London broking for the corporate & commercial pillar within Howden UK & Ireland. He will work with the placement team and report to Paul Hasib, who was promoted to chief placement officer for the corporate & commercial pillar in April 2024.
Howden said the role forms part of its regional growth plans and Hipson will be tasked with growing the broking operation on a national scale.
Hipson’s new position adds to his existing responsibilities leading the London corporate existing business team.
Hipson has worked for Howden and Aston Lark (now Howden) and predecessor companies for almost 21 years. After a brief spell in the corporate claims team, he held a variety of roles as account handler, account executive and manager, before heading up the London corporate existing business team.
Hipson said: “I’m really excited about this new role and passionate about broking, so I’m looking forward to working more closely with our insurer partners and colleagues to help grow and enhance our broking proposition, focused always on delivering the best service and solutions for our clients. There is a talented group of individuals within the existing Broking and Placement teams who do a fantastic job and we’ll be building on these strong foundations as we continue this exciting growth journey.”
Hasib said: “Paul has a proven track record of achieving great client and management results. This role is perfect for moving those outcomes to the next level.”
