Reinsurance execs complete annual Baden-Baden cycling challenge

With sights set further afield than just Leo’s, the Kurhaus and Kongresshaus, Brit pulled together a sportive 14 members of the reinsurance market for a 31-mile trek through the hills surrounding Baden-Baden on October 21.

2024 marks the “20-something-th” time that Simon Bird, Brit’s group executive underwriter and active underwriter for syndicate 2988 has hit the hills, following suggestion from early Baden-Baden partner Hugo Barker of Ulysse Re. Bird has done one to two years on his own, Barker has joined the vast bulk of the remainder including 2024.

It’s what Bird calls “the most invigorating start to the most civilised of conferences”.

Also on hand for the 2024 run and pictured were: Natalie Lambert, Jehangir Kadan, Archie Mainwaring-Burton and Leone Charles of Brit; Liam Chan of Lancashire Re Bermuda; Tom Murray and Kevin Brown of Aon; Mike Lambert and Luke Birtwhistle of Lockton Re; Natalie Donald of MS Amlin; Mark Wallace of Everest Re; and Guilia Viscovich of Gallagher Re.
