Reinsurance Association of America appoints senior vice president of federal affairs
The Reinsurance Association of America (RAA) has appointed Nicole Austin as senior vice president, federal affairs.
"We are pleased to welcome Nicole to our staff," Frank Nutter, president of the RAA, commented. "With over fifteen years of experience in federal activity, she brings a wealth of legislative and lobbying expertise and success to her new position and will hit the ground running as we work to influence public policy affecting the property/casualty industry in the 115th Congress."
Nicole has served as vice president, Federal Government Relations at the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI); a policy advisor, Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program at the US Department of the Treasury; staff director, House Financial Services Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity Subcommittee; and professional staff in various other leadership roles in the U.S. House of Representatives.
During her years in Congress, Austin led efforts that resulted in the enactment of legislation such as the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 and insurance provisions within the Dodd-Frank Act, including the creation of the Federal Insurance Office, according to the association’s statement.
