PartnerRe poaches Aon Benfield exec to target growth in LatAm
Bermuda-based PartnerRe has appointed Humberto Cabrera as head of Latin America. He will lead the development of company's business in the region, replacing interim head Salvatore Orlando.
Orlando will continue in his position of head of Middle East, Africa and Russia (MEAR) at PartnerRe.
Based in company’s Miami office, Cabrera will report to CEO of property/casualty segment and group executive committee member Tad Walker.
Cabrera joins PartnerRe from Aon Benfield, where he was the chief commercial officer and head of treaty of Aon Benfield Latin America, responsible for strategic planning and managing regional and local reinsurance operations in the region.
Prior to that, he was the CEO and president of Aon Benfield Colombia. Throughout his 25-year of reinsurance career, Cabrera has worked exclusively in the Latin American region as well as parts of the Caribbean.
Walker said: "Latin America is an important strategic market for PartnerRe and an area where we anticipate increasing demand for our reinsurance products. We are delighted to welcome Humberto, who brings with him extensive experience and an in-depth understanding of the unique challenges of our clients and brokers in that region. He will provide strong leadership for our Latin America team and a customer-centric point of contact for our Latin American clients looking for reinsurance solutions that align with their risk needs.
"I would also like to thank Salvatore for his valuable work over the years in representing PartnerRe in this important market. Going forward, he will be able to devote his full attention to his role as PartnerRe’s Head of MEAR, another key region for PartnerRe’s future success."
