CFC builds out transactional liability for renewable energy deals
Specialist insurer CFC is building out its transactional liability business with a dedicated team handling representation and warranty cover for M&A deals in the renewable energy sector.
Simon Wood will lead the team after having migrated to CFC's transactional liability team from an international law firm over a year ago.
Aline Brayner, a lawyer with a background as counsel for large and complex energy projects, has further come on board to strengthen the team.
The new team will focus on tailored coverage handling risks specific to renewable energy deals including offtake agreements and environmental liabilities.
Gus Marshall, head of transaction liability at CFC, commented: “The energy landscape is rapidly transforming as governments, public and private sectors increasingly seek to invest in renewable energy as they navigate the energy transition and support moves towards net zero. ... This has led to a significant uptick in the amount of deals that we’re managing in this space and given the unique risks associated with renewable energy projects, we have invested in a dedicated team to support our ever growing number of clients investing in renewable projects.”
