Berkshire’s BHSI expands global transactional liability with Liberty hire
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, has unveiled two key appointments in Germany and Canada.
In Canada, the insurer has expanded its global transactional liability team with the addition of Chres Lee as the unit head, based in Ontario. Lee joins from Liberty Mutual Insurance, where she was most recently M&A underwriting counsel. She also spent eight years practicing M&A law at two Canadian law firms.
Daniela Peeters has been appointed head of customer & broker engagement in Germany. She was previously customer & broker engagement manager for Northern Germany. Based in Cologne, Peeters joined BHSI in 2023. Her more than 25 years of insurance industry experience includes senior level roles at both insurers and brokerage firms. Prior to Deutsche Telekom, she worked as client director major accounts at AIG Europe, and previously served at Marsh for more than seven years.
Michael Brooks, head of transactional liability, North America, said: “With this latest appointment, we continue to strengthen our Transactional Liability team and capabilities around the globe. Chres has deep M&A expertise, strong market relationships, and shares BHSI’s commitment to ensuring excellent service for our customers and brokers throughout Canada.”
Commenting on Peeters' promotion, Andreas Krause, head of DACH, BHSI, said: “Daniela lives our BHSI values, bringing them to her every interaction with our customers and brokers. I am excited to welcome her to our German leadership team, and to work with her to continue to expand and strengthen our customer and broker relationships and build our forever business.”
