VIG Re elects former Generali exec as new chairman
Czech Republic-based reinsurer VIG Re, part of Vienna Insurance Group, has elected Peter Thirring as the new chairman of its supervisory board.
Thirring has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry acquired mainly with the Generali Group where he became to be CEO of Generali Holding Vienna and Generali Versicherungen. He left in 2015.
Since March 2016 he has been CEO of Donau Versicherung, a subsidiary of Vienna. He will join the Vienna Insurance Group management board on 1 July 2018.
In addition, Elisabeth Stadler has been re-elected as a first vice-chairwoman of the VIG Re supervisory board and Alain Flandrin was appointed as a second vice-chairman.
The supervisory board mandates of Karl Fink and Peter Höfinger were prolonged by the General Assembly until 31 December 2018.
