Sompo bolsters US operations with AIG and AXIS hires
Bermuda-based property and casualty re/insurer Sompo International has appointed Jonathan Monks and Ben Tasse to strengthen broker/agent relations, business development strategies and interactions with key US distribution markets.
As senior vice presidents, business development, for the company’s US insurance platform, both the executives will be based in New York City, reporting to Chris Sparro, CEO of US Insurance. Monks will focus on retail distribution partners while Tasse will focus on wholesale distribution partners.
Monks has more than 20 years of strategic relationship management and large account distribution experience primarily at Marsh and AIG. He joined Sompo International from AIG where, for almost ten years, he held management roles in AIG property & casualty’s New York region, most recently as managing director. Prior to that, he was senior vice president in Marsh's private equity and mergers & acquisitions services team.
Tasse joins Sompo International from AXIS Capital where he held underwriting and managerial positions of increasing responsibility since 2009. Most recently, he was vice president, professional liability underwriter and manager within Axis’ private equity and venture capital Team.
Sparro commented: “With Jon and Ben assuming these new roles in our US Insurance operation, we will be able to build on their experience and producer networks to further expand our presence in the markets we service. As we continue to add new talent and specialty capabilities to our organisation, we look forward to broadening our distribution network, developing new strategic initiatives and strengthening existing partnerships.”
