Paul Jardine favoured as new Lloyd’s CEO
Paul Jardine, previously Catlin’s chief operating officer and now responsible for XL Group’s communications & marketing function, claims and distribution strategy, is the favourite candidate for Inga Beale’s successor as CEO of Lloyd’s of London, according to a survey by Intelligent Insurer.
Lloyd’s CEO Inga Beale is stepping down in 2019 after leading the global insurance and reinsurance market for five years.
Jardine gathered 24 percent of the votes in the survey. Mike Morrissey, CEO of IIS, the global forum for insurance industry stakeholders, praised Jardine’s great market experience and the fact that he is well-respected within the industry while he would be available for the job.
Joji Mathew, senior manager reinsurance at XL Catlin said that “Paul has an excellent experience of leading XL Catlin in a variety of different roles. He is a perfect leader to lead Lloyd's.”
Another respondent noted Jardine’s broad experience in all areas required, his hands-on attitude, and that he could form a dynamic duo with chairman Carnegie-Brown.
Jardine gathered by far the most votes, but other candidates included Andrew Kendrick, Chubb Group regional president, Europe, Steve McGill, former group president of Aon, Catlin Group founder Stephen Catlin, Ed CEO Steve Hearn and Lloyd’s chief financial officer John Parry. Parry is leaving the corporation after 17 years early 2019.
