MGAA and CII partner to launch MGA training platform
The Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) has launched an online training platform, called MGA Assess, developed in partnership with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
The e-learning platform was designed to help MGA employees develop knowledge and technical competency with a structured programme and regular assessments to ensure skills are kept up to date. The MGAA and CII said the programme helps MGAs demonstrate the expertise and professionalism of their teams to brokers and insurers.
A recent survey of MGAA members found that professional development and education is important to MGAs, with a large number of MGA employees holding or studying for CII qualifications.
MGA Assess complies with Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) and promotes continuous professional development (CPD).
In addition to launching MGA Assess, which is part of the ‘Assess’ suite, the association has committed to supporting chartered status for MGAs later in the year.
MGAA chairman Charles Manchester said: “We’ve worked with the CII to develop this training solution. We believe it’s important to drive consistently high professional standards across the industry. Moreover, the IDD requires it. As the first training solution specifically built for MGAs, we hope practitioners will take full advantage of MGA Assess.”
Steve Jenkins, development director at the CII, added: “We are delighted to be working with the association in the launch of MGA Assess. MGAs play a key role in the insurance market and we are confident that this initiative will help support structured learning and CPD for a very important group of professionals.”
