IGI to highlight workplace harassment at Dive In diversity event in Jordan
International General Insurance (IGI) is to focus on workplace harassment as it hosts the Dive In festival in Jordan later this month.
The festival, which aims to promote diversity and inclusion (D&I), takes place in 33 countries and in more than 60 cities around the world between September 24-26. For the second year, re/insurer IGI will be hosting the Jordan leg of the event.
The company will sponsor a panel discussion in the remote area of Southern Shouneh, in partnership with World of Letters (WoL). WoL is the secretariat for the Women as Partners in Progress (WPP), a collective movement whose goal is to promote gender inclusive policies and practices in the Middle East.
The panel will aim to teach women in the local community about actions, rights and legislation related to harassment and misconduct in the workplace.
“Harassment in the workplace is the topic of the day, whether in the insurance industry, in Jordan or in the world,” said Aaida Abu-Jaber, head of PR and marketing, and IGI’s D&I champion. “Females outside the capital city of Amman, Jordan have barriers to entering the job market because of societal restrictions. In order to empower females in all areas and walks of life, they and their families need to be aware of their rights when it comes to misconduct in the workplace.”
