HDI snags CNA, Ironshore talent for US property and casualty expansion
The US subsidiary of industrial lines insurer HDI Global SE has made three key appointments within its engineering lines and construction casualty practices.
Carisa Winters has been appointed senior engineering lines underwriter, responsible for leading the US engineering lines' two largest segments - civil engineering completed risks (CECR) and special risks (equipment breakdown and renewable energy), which account for over half of the lines' gross written premium.
Winters has previously held various underwriting and management positions in the property practices of Windward Specialty, RSUI Group and DirectFac.
Brad Wilkinson joins HDI as an engineering lines property underwriter and will work alongside Winters in developing and executing the strategy for the engineering lines division in the US as well as driving underwriting excellence.
He joins HDI from CNA Financial, where he was most recently a commercial middle market and equipment breakdown underwriting specialist.
Finally, Alexander LaBelle has been appointed as senior construction liability underwriter, responsible for developing and implementing strategic and operational tactics to drive growth and profitability for the US construction liability portfolio.
LaBelle joins HDI from Ironshore Insurance Services, where he was most recently a senior excess and surplus liability underwriter within their wholesale specialty casualty practice.
“HDI continues to attract top quality talent to our underwriting organisation,” said Mark Groenheide, vice president, engineering lines underwriting manager. “We are thrilled to have a collection of seasoned insurance professionals join our team.
"Their expertise in the engineering lines and construction marketplace advances our efforts to grow our property and casualty business and I have no doubt that our clients and partners will benefit enormously from the wealth of experience they bring to HDI.”
