Hamilton brings Third Point Re's Steve Wilson to build new US reinsurance platform
Bermuda-based Hamilton Insurance Group has appointed Steve Wilson as senior vice president, head of casualty & specialty for its new US reinsurance platform.
Wilson comes to Hamilton from Third Point Re, where he was SVP underwriting. Prior to that, he spent over eleven years at Munich Re America, most recently as head of financial and professional lines where he managed the professional liability and credit/surety/political risk underwriting teams. Before that, he served in a range of increasingly senior underwriting and actuarial roles at Munich Re America. Wilson was also an associate at KPMG where he focused on reinsurance.
He joins US colleagues in Hamilton’s newly-expanded organisation. Based in New York, in his key new role, Wilson will help launch the build out of Hamilton’s global reinsurance footprint in the US in line with its long-term strategy to build a global diversified specialty insurance and reinsurance company.
Hamilton Re CEO Kathleen Reardon said: “I’m delighted to welcome Steve into this newly-created leadership position at such an exciting time, coming as it does following our transformative acquisition that closed last month and as we focus on building our reinsurance franchise.
"His significant market knowledge together with his proven underwriting skills and track record will be instrumental in developing US reinsurance opportunities for us. We look forward to further enhancing our product offering as we continue to build out this platform.”
