Global reinsurer and specialty broker Ed recruits Abhishek Chhajer from Standard Chartered Bank

Global reinsurance, wholesale and specialty broker Ed has lured Abhishek Chhajer to the company to be head of credit, political risks and surety solutions, Asia Pacific.

Chhajer starts on 1 April, based in Singapore, and reports to Stephen Britten CEO of Asia Pacific.

With more than 16 years of industry experience Chhajer joins Ed from Standard Chartered Bank where he managed a project on buyer underwriting.

Before working at Standard Chartered, he managed the underwriting P&L for Markel’s credit and political risk insurance division in the Asia pacific region. He started Markel’s credit insurance division in the region when he was hired from Atradius in 2011. Chhajer began his insurance career at Marsh in 2003, establishing its credit insurance practice in India, before moving to Willis as a credit insurance broker in 2006.

Britten said: “Abhishek has hugely impressive global experience in the credit insurance market as both an underwriter and as a broker, with an in-depth knowledge of the Asia and Middle East region. His ability to build successful teams from the ground up will be essential in increasing Ed’s footprint in the region and will better enable our broking network partners to offer credit, political risks and surety solutions.”
