GIC India chief Alice Vaidyan to retire at end of July
Alice G Vaidyan, chairman and managing director of the Indian state-owned reinsurer General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re), is retiring at the end of July, Intelligent Insurer can reveal.
Her replacement has not yet been named.
Vaidyan has over 30 years of experience in the Indian re/insurance industry. She is the first female managing director of any Indian insurer or reinsurer in the life or non-life sector.
Vaidyan has been the chairman of the board and managing director of GIC since January 2016. Prior to that, she served as chief financial officer of GIC until September 2015, and its general manager since October 2012. She has also served at New India Assurance Company in various leadership roles.
