Florida insured losses from hurricane Irma reach $8bn
Total insured losses caused by hurricane Irma in Florida are estimated at $7.95 billion, according to latest information published by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.
The number of claims filed totalled 900,228 as of Feb. 9. Of all claims filed, 479,637 have been closed and paid while 293,229 have been closed and not paid. Overall, 85.9 percent of claims have been closed so far with 127,362 still open.
