Everest Re swoops for Swiss Re exec as global head of aerospace
Everest Re Group has hired a Swiss Re executive to head up its global aerospace reinsurance unit.
Georgios (George) Toulkeridis joins Everest from Swiss Re where he was managing director, head of aviation and space R/I for the past five years. Prior to that, he held many senior positions with Hannover Re since 1992 and was director of aviation and space reinsurance. He will be based in the Zurich office.
In his new role, Toulkeridis will lead the company's underwriting strategy for aviation and space. He will also support the Continental European team on various non-aviation areas.
John Doucette, president and CEO of the reinsurance division, Everest said: “We are excited to have George join our reinsurance team to help us develop our aviation reinsurance portfolio. With his extensive experience in the Aviation and Space field, we are confident that he will be a tremendous asset to our company as we continue to grow and diversify our business as well as broaden our global reach in major classes.”
Stephan Knipper, managing director, Continental Europe, added: “Following the recent enhancements to our Trade Credit, Surety and Political Risk capabilities in Zurich, George’s addition to our European Reinsurance team solidifies Everest’s position as a global reinsurer with broad product offering and a diversified portfolio of specialty lines to complement our Property and Casualty portfolio. We are extremely pleased to have George join the Everest team.”
