Everest poaches AXIS Capital exec as new Canada insurance CEO
Bermuda-based Everest Re Group has appointed Darin Scanzano as the new CEO of Everest Insurance Company of Canada.
Prior to joining Everest, Scanzano held the role of executive vice president and chief agent for AXIS Capital in Toronto, where he was responsible for all Canadian insurance operations, including underwriting, claims, and finance, while serving as senior member of AXIS’ executive management group for North America.
Scanzano, who will report to David Sandler, head of the Everest Insurance Risk Management Group, will be based in the company’s Toronto, Canada office.
Sandler said: “We are excited to have Darin join as CEO of Everest Insurance Company of Canada. His depth of experience in the Canadian market, and deep trading relationships developed over his thirty year career in the industry, will help us to continue expanding our Canadian insurance operation.”
Jonathan Zaffino, chairman of the board of Everest Insurance Company of Canada, and president and CEO of Everest Insurance added: “Darin’s reputation, market relationships, and knowledge will prove additive to the overall Everest Insurance value proposition. We will look to build upon our strong presence in the Canadian marketplace and our deep bench of specialty insurance products, and are confident Darin will help us grow from a position of strength with our trading partners and insureds.”
