CLS appoints in-house legal underwriting counsel
CLS Risk Solutions, a legal indemnity and transactional property risk MGA, has appointment an in-house underwriting counsel to assist underwriters with risk analysis and keep the teams up to date with legal developments.
Vanessa Babington-Monegard has been a practicing lawyer specialising in real estates disputes up until she joined CLS. During that time, she has worked at Arden Chambers and law firms Osborne Clark, Berwin Leighton Paisner (now Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner), King and Wood Mallesons and Withers.
She will be focussed on product governance: assisting underwriters with risk analysis to provide brokers with a secure quick turnaround of indicative quotes and working with senior underwriters to develop policy wording. She will also be involved in CLS’s underwriting training programme as well as providing general technical guidance.
Tom O’Connor, CEO of CLS Risk Solutions, said: “Our products and policies are highly bespoke, born out of a unique combination of underwriting expertise in real estate risks, market leading capacity and a good deal of creativity and flair.
"Appointing Vanessa means that we and our broker partners have the benefit of a specialist with years of experience as a practicing lawyer in this niche area at our disposal. For brokers that means a great and speedy service, a creative approach and ‘right first time’ advice and policy wording.”
