Chaucer appoints new non-executive director to board

Specialty re/insurer Chaucer has appointed Lesley Watkins  as non-executive director.

Watkins has 20 years of financial services experience in senior board level roles. She is currently a non-executive director of Investec Bank and Braemar Shipping Services. She was formerly a non-executive director of Game Digital and Panmure Gordon & Co. She was also a non-executive Council Member and Chair of the Audit Committee of the Competition Commission.

Chris Stooke, non-executive chairman of Chaucer, said: "John Fowle, the directors and I are delighted that Lesley is joining the Board. She has a wealth of business experience and possesses a skillset that will complement the Board’s existing expertise. I am sure that Lesley will provide invaluable oversight and constructive challenges to the business as we continue our development as a leading international specialty underwriter."

Watkins commented: "I am excited to be joining Chaucer at this important stage of their development now that they are part of China Re and look forward to taking up my position on the Board and working with all my new colleagues at Chaucer."
