Brit's former head of claims joins Standard Syndicate 1884
Charles Taylor-managed Standard Syndicate 1884 has appointed Steve Robson to the role of claims director, responsible for developing the Syndicate’s claims capabilities within the London market.
Robson will also join the senior leadership team, taking a key role in driving the Syndicate’s strategic development.
Robson joins from Brit Insurance where he was group head of claims, responsible for implementing claim procedures and protocols. Prior to this, he worked at Alterra Syndicate Management as claims director responsible for all Lloyd’s operations. He is the International Association of Claim Professionals (IACP) immediate past president.
Robson has extensive experience of claims management having worked for over 34 years in the London Market in various senior claims roles and prominent market positions covering reinsurance (treaty and facultative), binding authorities, FI, PI and property claims.
"The Standard Syndicate is driving forward into its next stage of development," said Robert Dorey, active underwriter at The Standard Syndicate. "We are broadening our range of insurance covers to include non-marine lines and are recruiting further senior underwriters.
"At the same time, we are building a senior management team with huge experience of establishing and growing syndicates in the Lloyd’s market. The appointment of Steve Robson, who has an outstanding track record of leading claim teams in the Lloyd’s market, follows that of Christopher Smith as managing director," Dorey added.
"In what remains difficult underwriting conditions in the Lloyd’s market we have shown our intent to build a strong new underwriting presence, with the full long-term backing of our principle capital provider, The Standard P&I Club."
