Beazley hires Ulrich Schaller to ‘grow footprint’ of specialist insurance in Germany
Specialist insurer Beazley has appointed a new lead to develop the business in Germany from 1 April 2019.
Ulrich Schaller will lead a portfolio including financial lines products for commercial organisations and financial institutions (FI) including directors and officers (D&O) liability, professional liability and FI crime cover. The offering covers blended products for investment managers and private equity firms and cyber products.
Schaller will also be responsible in Germany for myBeazley, the company’s e-trading platform for specialist insurance products for small and medium sized businesses.
With 15 years’ underwriting experience, Schaller joins Beazley from QBE Insurance (Europe) where his most recent role was portfolio manager for financial and specialty markets in Germany. Before that he spent almost 10 years at Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty in different financial lines underwriting roles, most recently as senior underwriter for financial institutions. He will report to Lorena Segovia, Beazley’s financial lines regional manager.
Segovia said: “We are pleased to welcome Ulrich to Beazley. He will be instrumental in helping us to grow our footprint in Germany by offering specialist insurance cover to protect organisations in a changing and challenging risk environment.”
Beazley has been expanding its product offering in Germany since opening an office in Munich a decade ago. In Germany it also provides reinsurance solutions and mergers and acquisitions insurance.
