Bahrain’s Trust Re hires new executive management talent to boost corporate governance; forms committee
Reinsurance firm Trust Re, headquartered in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has strengthened its executive management team with new appointments and formed a new executive committee.
The appointments are part of the reinsurer’s plan to drive growth and value for clients and stakeholders, and nominees have been approved by the Central Bank of Bahrain.
Group CEO Talal Al Zain will lead the executive committee, which includes group COO Kamal Tabaja, and recent internal appointee Mohsin Altaf who is the new group CFO and Marios Argyrou the new group CRO. Further committee members include Hasan Al-Mudaifa, the head of compliance & MLRO and Ashraf Ibrahim, head of legal.
The reinsurer said the changes “reflect Trust Re’s acceleration towards greater transparency and improved corporate governance”.
New CFO Altaf is a qualified chartered accountant who joined Trust Re in 2018. He brings valuable experience in financial management of the insurance industry and sound knowledge of related regulations. He has been part of the management teams of various internationally renowned insurance and reinsurance organisations.
CRO Argyrou has 20 years of international experience in insurance, reinsurance and captives industries. He is also a London School of Economics and Political Science graduate, and a UK Risk and US Actuarial qualified professional.
Al-Mudaifa, the head of compliance & MLRO, has worked at Trust Re since September 2017. He is a certified anti money laundering specialist (CAMS) and has almost 20 years of experience in the GCC financial sector, most of which were spent in regulatory and financial crime compliance.
While head of legal Ibrahim has worked at Trust Re since 2011, with a 26 year career stretching across the Middle East. He specialises in commercial trading and real estate.
“These appointments reflect our commitment to the highest levels of corporate governance,” said Al Zain. “The cross-functional nature of our executive management improves our transparency and accountability which are crucial to ensure that we continue to operate efficiently and mitigate risk.”
