AXIS Re swoops for Swiss Re hire to expands strategic partners unit
AXIS Re, the reinsurance business segment of Bermuda-based AXIS Capital Holdings, has expanded its strategic partners business with the appointment of Daniel Osterrieder as strategic account executive for North America.
Osterrieder joins AXIS Re from Swiss Re, where he held a number of client management and treaty reinsurance underwriting roles for over a decade. Most recently, he served as senior vice president, key account manager, for the company’s global account business.
Prior to that, Osterrieder was also senior treaty underwriter primarily focused on the US casualty business. He also spent time working at Swiss Re’s Beijing office, where he leveraged underwriting authority for business written in both China and South Korea. Osterrieder began his insurance career at AIG and Willis.
AXIS Re's strategic partners unit is dedicated to serving select clients and brokers. Osterrieder will be responsible for leading global client relationships for the unit headquartered in North America.
The strategic partners team also includes: Herndon Stokes (EMEA), Simon Stirnemann (EMEA), Juan Manuel Martín Leon (EMEA), and Masaya Arao (SAE for Asia and Head of Japan for AXIS Re). Additional appointments to the strategic partners team are expected for North America and Asia, with the latter focusing on the Australian market.
