Asia Capital Re bolsters underwriting, management team with new hires
Asia Capital Reinsurance Group (Asia Capital Re), a wholly owned subsidiary of ACR Capital Holdings, has bolstered its underwriting and management team while filling certain leadership positions for its treaty, facultative and specialty business.
The Asia-based reinsurer has appointed Soeren Soltysiak as chief underwriting officer (CUO) of treaty, and Ronnie Tong as CUO of facultative and specialty business. They will also sit on Asia Capital Re’s executive committee.
Furthermore, to spearhead its expansion into North America and Europe, the reinsurer has appointed Nick Macfarlane as its head of treaty, international. He is expected to join the company in December 2018.
“The next phase of our growth will focus on, among other things, broadening our product offering, boosting our claims processing capabilities and developing a greater international presence," said Bobby Heerasing, chief executive of Asia Capital Re. "Soeren and Ronnie both have extensive exposure and network in Asian and global markets. Their expertise and experience will help ensure that ACR is able to continue building on our client base in Asia and the Middle East, while attracting new clients globally, particularly in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.”

The recent additions to the reinsurer's leadership team also include Michael Resnikoff as head of casualty and financial lines, facultative, and Nicolas Winter as head of property and engineering, facultative. Loo Seng Han will join as senior client underwriter, treaty, in January 2019.
Meanwhile, Chan Whye Loon, who held the portfolio of chief retrocession officer, has returned to the position of chief Risk officer, a role he first held when he joined Asia Capital Re in 2010. And, Solomon Chiu, head of treaty market I (Greater China), will take on the additional responsibilities of principal officer, Hong Kong branch office.
