Allstate start-up launches ‘distracted driver’ pricing technology
Arity, a Chicago-based data start-up by insurer Allstate, has launched a new technology designed to help insurers price individual motor policies partly based on how distracted they are by mobile technology while driving.
The technology works by analyzing drivers’ on-the-road mobile phone usage and corresponding claims data to generate an insight into how distracted driving increases risk of accidents on the road.
It incorporates specific claims information to reveal which distracted driving actions lead to which accident claims, allowing insurers to better understand the risks and price smarter.
