Zurich combines North America units to "simplify" structure
Zurich Insurance Group said that it is combining its specialty products business with commercial insurance in North America as part of its strategy to simplify the organisational structure, and provide easier access to its products and services.
Following the restructure, head of North America commercial insurance Paul Horgan will lead the new expanded unit. He will report to the CEO of Zurich North America Mike Foley, and CEO of commercial insurance globally for Zurich James Shea.
In addition, the insurer has appointed Brian Winters as head of specialty products for Zurich North America, reporting to Horgan. Winters formerly led Zurich’s casualty business in North America. Most recently, he has been responsible for managing relationships with its largest customers and brokers.
"We continue to build on our commercial leadership position and come together for our customers," Horgan said. "We are confident this structure will help us become more agile, more collaborative, and more customer-focused."
The company noted that with the move to a simpler and combined structure, Zurich aims to create a more agile organisation to reinforce its position as a leading global insurance provider to service and support its multinational customers, utilising its experience and expertise to deliver local solutions to a wide variety of middle market businesses.
