Markel CATCo appoints chief risk officer, co-chief underwriting officer
Markel CATCo Investment Management has appointed Alissa Fredricks as chief risk officer, and Simon Moore as co-chief underwriting officer alongside Lindsay Watson.
Based in Bermuda, Fredricks oversees the company’s portfolio and all underwriting activity. She joined Markel CATCo in May 2016 as a senior actuary. Prior to that, she was with AIR Worldwide where she was responsible for leading catastrophe risk modelling consulting services for the insurance and reinsurance markets, which included advising regulators and rating agencies.
In the new role, co-chief underwriting officers Moore and Watson report to Fredricks.
Moore joined CATCo Investment Management as a senior underwriter in July 2015. Prior to that, Moore was a senior technical reinsurance broker at AON Benfield. CATCo was acquired by Markel Corporation on in December 2015.
Tony Belisle, chief executive officer of Markel CATCo, said: "Since Markel Corporation acquired CATCo the Company’s assets under management have nearly doubled to $4.3 billion. With their strong analytical and actuarial backgrounds, Simon and Alissa have played a critical part in supporting this rapid growth.
"As senior members of the Markel CATCo team, they will play increasingly important leadership roles during the next stage of the Company’s development. I congratulate them both on their well-deserved promotions."
