Liberty Mutual appoints chief underwriting officer of energy unit
US-based insurer Liberty Mutual has appointed Jessica Dekermanji as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer of its national insurance specialty energy unit.
In the new role, Dekermanji will lead the underwriting team and be responsible for risk control and account services professionals focused on expanding products and integrating technology to help energy clients better manage their overall cost of risk.
She will report to David Perez, executive vice president and general manager of Liberty Mutual's commercial insurance specialty unit.
Prior to this, Dekermanji served in a number of senior commercial insurance field operations, product management and underwriting positions at Liberty Mutual. Most recently, she was senior underwriting manager in the specialty energy area. She joined Liberty Mutual in 2002.
"Our energy team has focused on power and utility, oil and gas, and renewable energy for over 20 years, and recently expanded its appetite to include mining," Dekermanji commented. "We understand the risks faced by the energy industry and partner with brokers and buyers to identify ways to effectively manage and mitigate those exposures. Today, we offer property, workers compensation, auto and general liability, and – through Ironshore – specialty products, so that brokers can better meet the needs of energy companies."
