HDI Global expands US unit with hires from Generali, AIG and Starr
Industrial insurance company HDI Global has strengthened its US engineering lines and construction division with several hires from Generali US, AIG, Starr Companies.
Mark Groenheide has been appointed as vice president, engineering lines underwriting manager, who will be responsible for the strategic growth of the portfolio and will lead all North American underwriting efforts. He joins from Generali US in New York, where he served as vice president and North American practice leader of the construction division.
To undertake the responsibility for all underwriting for the South and Southwest regions, the company has appointed Serena Wannemacher as CRIS, senior engineering lines underwriter. She joins from AIG, where she was most recently a senior construction underwriter. She has worked for several leading brokerage firms in Texas, including AON and JLT.
Nicholas Mazza, assistant vice president, senior engineering lines underwriter, will be responsible for the East and West Coast regions. Mazza has held various leadership positions with ACE, XL Group, and AXA in the past.
Rachel Oleniacz has been hired as CPCU, engineering lines underwriter, responsible for all underwriting in the State of Hawaii. She joins from Swett & Crawford, where most recently she was an account manager handling specialized risks such as vacant buildings, large fine art schedules, and builder’s risks.
Tom Vala, engineering lines underwriter, joins from HDI Global Australia, where most recently he served as construction and engineering lines assistant underwriter. In his new role, he will be in charge of all underwriting for the Central and Southeast regions. Prior to joining HDI, he worked in London as a bonus account executive for Aviva.
Ashley Brice, CRIS, associate engineering lines underwriter, has joined the firm from Starr Companies, where most recently she was a junior construction underwriter. In her new role, she will handle all underwriting for the Northwest and Midwest regions.
