Former Axis Re CEO Jay Nichols resurfaces at US P&C firm Baldwin & Lyons
The former CEO of Axis Re Jay Nichols has joined Baldwin & Lyons, the US-based property/casualty holding company's board of directors.
Nichols resigned from the Bermuda-based reinsurer in March 2017 citing it was a "good time for transition" after leading the company for nearly five years. Prior to joining Axis in April 2012, he served as the president of RenaissanceRe Ventures.
In addition to Nichols, the P&C company has also appointed James Porcari to the its board of directors.
Porcari is the founder and managing partner of Insurance Resources International (IRI). Before establishing IRI in 2010, he was the president of personal lines claims for AIG, US from 2002-2009.
"John and James each bring years of insurance industry expertise and leadership acumen to the table, which will help continue fuelling our company’s growth and success in the midst of our eighty-seventh year in business," said Steve Shapiro, executive chairman of the board of directors. "We are thrilled to welcome them to the Board and look forward to their valuable contributions to our company."
