Ed bolsters reinsurance unit with new hire from Willis Re
Reinsurance, wholesale and specialty broker Ed has appointed Ian Wicks as chairman of non-marine reinsurance.
Wicks will report to CEO of Ed’s reinsurance division Kieran Angelini-Hurl.
Wicks joins Ed from Willis Re where he served as an executive director within the casualty division.
Prior to this, he co-founded the broking house Harman Wicks & Swayne, serving as a director for over two decades.
JLT acquired Harman Wicks & Swayne in 2008, following which Wicks joined the JLT Re executive committee, was appointed as joint head of non-marine and was also responsible for managing the
London-based casualty treaty team. He began his broking career in 1976 at Fenchurch Reinsurance Brokers.
"I am delighted to welcome Ian to our growing team," Angelini-Hurl said. "He is a true market grandee whose experience is second to none. We are building a reinsurance offering defined by expertise and client service which act as a clear differentiator from our peers. Ian’s exceptional insight and counsel will further enhance our proposition and I am certain that his influence will have an immediate positive effect."
